MetaMask introduces a new toolkit to streamline Web3, user onboarding
Consensys unveiled the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit at EthCC, a major milestone in the company's efforts to promote Web3 and blockchain adoption.
According to a press release shared with Cointelegraph, the toolkit will allow developers to create decentralized applications (DApps) and protocols that deliver new user experiences.
The MetaMask toolkit is available on any Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chain supported by the user operation package, including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Linea, Optimism, and Polygon.
Speaking to Cointelegraph, Metamask co-founder Dan Finlay explained that while this initial version is Ethereum-only, there are parts he thinks “could easily be made chain agnostic.”

A research-based Web3 solution
According to a Consensus survey of 15,000 participants between the ages of 18 and 65, many find crypto too complicated and challenging.
“Only 8% of respondents consider themselves to be familiar with the Web3 concept, highlighting the disconnect between Web3 and public perceptions.”
The toolkit aims to streamline the interface between Web3 and its capabilities by eliminating repetitive user steps and reducing the need for direct interaction with the Web3 infrastructure.
Speaking of authorization and enforcement systems, Finlay told Cointelegraph that the toolkit allows users to “write custom policies.”
“You can invite someone to an experience — to an app — and give them an allowance, and the execution system is completely open.”

Key toolkit features
MetaMask's delegation toolkit allows for quick user onboarding without the need to download extensions or applications and eliminates the need for lineage management.
According to the official press release, the toolkit “completely eliminates user conflicts”, eliminates pop-ups and constant confirmations for smooth interaction.
It also allows for “gasless transactions or deferred or split gas costs” to better control gas bills.
Finlay discussed the finer details when a user interacts with a site and says, “I want to do this.” This is what I need.”

Finding a pocket watcher
On July 3, Consensys announced the acquisition of Wallet Guard, a security tool designed to protect digital assets and data from fraud, embezzlement and theft.
The acquisition aims to improve user protection in the Web3 space by integrating Wallet Guard's security features with MetaMask.
Patrick Beraducci, head of the Consensus Metamask and Infura business team, told Cointelegraph that the Wallet Guard integration will protect users from threats such as “malicious dapps and scams.”
