Microstrategy wallets 14,620 bitcoins before ETF approval
Business intelligence firm MicroStrategy continues to pile on Bitcoin (BTC) pending approval of a spot BTC exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the United States.
MicroStrategy and its affiliates purchased another 14,620 BTC for $615.7 million in cash between November 20, 2023 and December 26, 2023, the company announced in an 8-K filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The latest Bitcoin storage put MicroStrategy's cost at roughly $42,110 per BTC, including fees and other costs, including filing notes.
The acquisition brings the total Bitcoin holdings of MicroStrategy and its affiliates to 189,150 bitcoins, with a total purchase price of approximately $5.9 billion and an average purchase price of approximately $31,168 per BTC.
