Paris-based gaming startup Dogami has released its new mobile game Dogami Academy for iOS and Android. Currently playable in Early Access only for Dogami NFT owners, the game offers crypto token rewards to players.
Dogami Academy is a dog training and racing game that combines strategic elements with training and obstacle course navigation, allowing players to compete online in various events. Currently, the game features a Paris-based environment, although additional environments are in the works.
Players earn in-game currency called STARs by competing against computer-controlled opponents, which can be used to upgrade their virtual dogs. Players compete against each other in multiplayer events to earn DOGA tokens, which are traded on centralized and decentralized crypto exchanges.
Dogami released a total of 12,000 Dog NFTs distributed across the Tezos and Polygon blockchains. According to the company, players recorded nearly 500,000 in-game tournaments during a week of playtesting.
A free-to-play version of the game that does not require NFTs is planned to launch in the first quarter of 2024. That free-to-play version is not supposed to reward players with crypto tokens, which is typically the case for game play. Get a game feature reserved for players who buy NFT.
“Our vision is to bring a little more fun, fantasy and entertainment to the world, and Dogami Academy is the perfect tool to accomplish this,” said Dogami Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer Christopher De Penseres in the release.
