Monero Vets Prep Tari Token, Easier mining than Bitcoin promising newbies

To simplify the complex world of cryptocurrency for a new generation, a team of former Monero developers, including lead contributor Riccardo Spagni (also known as “Fluffippony”), are launching a mining network named Tari Universe desktop app. Tari Token
According to Tari contributor Naveen Jain, Tari was inspired by the early days of Bitcoin, when anyone could generate cryptocurrency on their computer without the need for special equipment—before energy-intensive mining became the norm.
“If you're thinking of a newbie who doesn't already have a MetaMask wallet and doesn't have an account with a specific exchange, how do you get involved?” Jane, an early Monero miner, told Decrypt.
“The day Bitcoin first launched, people could mine Bitcoin on their existing computers — that's how this whole industry started,” he continued. “If we take things back to where Bitcoin first started, what if anyone started downloading free software from the Internet, installing it, and coming up with a new blockchain protocol?”
Jain said that the Tari Universe mining software and testnet will go live on September 12, and Tari Minenet will go live later this year.
In May, Tari announced that eligible community members can earn Tari tokens thrown into the air by completing online missions, completing likes and retweets on Twitter, joining the Tari Reddit community, and creating memories featuring Tari's turtle mascot in the near future.
“[The Tari token] It should be treated the same way as a token like Ethereum,” he said. It's the token that powers the entire network, the token you use to pay for transactions and eventually use applications on the Taree network.
While Tari is its own blockchain, as Jane explained, it uses a proof-of-work algorithm similar to Bitcoin and benefits from the technology found in Monero, the privacy coin. It says it will use a “hybrid” model that will mine half the blocks on Tari and half on Monero.
However, Janet Tarry emphasized that the Privacy Center is separate from the Monero project.
“To say Tari is a sidechain is incorrect,” he said. That being said, we are leveraging the security model from Monero via RandomX by integrating mining.
Merging refers to the process that allows miners to simultaneously mine two or more cryptocurrencies that use the same consensus protocol and hash function. As a result, miners can receive rewards from both networks without additional resources. Mining benefits smaller networks by increasing security and cost-effectiveness.
Jane's use of this approach benefits the Tari community because the network is decentralized and accessible from day one.
“It doesn't matter whether you believe the EFF will save the day or what you believe about your ultimate vision,” Jain said. “The reality is that the system is now a closed box — it's not an open, accessible thing — and all the new protocols are only for the people who are here.”
Addressing crypto community detractors who may question the importance of something like Tarry Universe, Jain reiterated the need to bring in new users and not just rely on older cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin to do the job.
“What about the next generation? What about Gen Alpha, Gen Z, these new people? Jane asked. “You literally came to a Bitcoin conference here in Nashville and you had the 78-year-old former president shilling Bitcoin on stage. If that's not the meaning of a boomer coin, I don't know what is.”
According to Jane, the Tari Universe software has two modes for miners: ECO mode and Ludicrous mode, the latter of which is a reference to Mel Brook's classic movie “Spaceball.”
According to Jane, Eco Mode draws less resources from the computer, making it more convenient for mining when the computer is in use. In contrast, Ludicrous mode uses more resources and is suitable for when the computer is not in use, such as overnight.
“You don't need to have custom, expensive hardware to extract tari. If you have an existing laptop or desktop computer, you can burn tari.”
