More Than Half Of The Fortune 100 Use Apple'S Vision Pro Headphones

Apple's Vision Pro headset, a mixed-reality spatial computing device, has been adopted by more than half of the Fortune 100 companies with at least one purchase.

The company's CEO, Tim Cook, shared the information during Apple's first quarter 2024 earnings call, saying Vision Pro adoption shows strong enthusiasm for the company's products:

For example, more than half of the Fortune 100 companies have purchased Apple Vision Pro components and are looking for new ways to use it to do things that weren't possible before.

The Vision Pro was launched in the United States in early February 2024 at a price of $3,499. Since then, it doesn't seem to have made much of a dent in the consumer market, where there are much lower-priced options like the Meta Quest line of VR headsets.

Cointelegraph recently reported, however, that the Vision Pro headset and Apple's leadership in its spatial computing platform, Metaverse, are poised to bring it mainstream and become the default choice for enterprise adoption.

Where most popular headsets tend to offer virtual reality that provides total immersion in a digital space, Vision Pro is designed for mixed and augmented reality experiences that combine real-world and digital imagery.

Apple refers to this as spatial computing.

Instead of touting the device as a gaming and social product, the companies that adopted Vision Pro seem to be using it for Metaverse-related corporate functions. One such example involves using the headset to train doctors to perform surgeries when cats are not readily available.

Cook teased the upcoming update during the earnings call, saying Fortune 100 adoption is “just the beginning.” “Looking ahead, we're gearing up for an exciting product announcement next week that we think our customers will love,” he added.

It's not clear if this is related to the Vision Pro – rumors are that the Vision Pro 2 was released in 2015. A less expensive model will tentatively debut in 2026. If true, the timing of Apple's next event, dubbed “Let Loose” on May 7, could be perfect for the company to announce the low-cost Vision Pro for 2025.
