Nintendo Switch 2: A growing number of fan theories about how the game will change

At first glance, the Nintendo Switch 2 It doesn't look any different than it did on the handheld console. Light again color, big screen, but what else? Anything… interesting?

Well, eagle-eyed and conspiracy theorists have some ideas about what the two-minute trailer might have hinted at without actually telling us. From a fun new Nintendo gimmick to new Mario Kart mechanics, we've rounded up four rising fan theories based on what the Switch 2 has to offer gamers.

Joy-con mouse

Yes, people think every Joy-Con doubles as a Switch-based mouse– What some call a. Mouse-con.

Betfury

This rumor is the result of a new hole on the inside of both Joy-Cons, which seems to contain a new sensor. While we don't have an official explanation yet, the trailer shows the Joy-Cons running on a flat surface just like you would use a computer mouse – it even has a wrist strap, which makes it look like a real mouse tail.

This has led people to speculate how or why a mouse would be useful on the Switch 2. Redditor Spy Wednesday They explained that it would open the door to more first-person shooters and real-time strategy games. While these are not typical game genres associated with Nintendo consoles, BootyHugsAnother commenter mentioned that he plays Civilization VI on his Switch and a mouse would be a big help.

Some have already complained to Reddior that the Mouse-Con is not suitable for long gaming sessions. Balintxala He is designing a potential ergonomic case for it.

That said, others believe this could be a new sensor so the Joy-Cons are like a PointerLike the Wii Remote.

Secret key

Below the home button is an unmarked button, and…well, we don't know what it does. But Redditors are. By calling the “C” key.

Redditor Ampersand17 believes it could be like old-school Blackberry phones or a mini trackpad. Lenovo Legion Go S have, and this follows (Quote intended.) with the old theory that Joy-Cons also work like mice. Others have It's theorized that it could be a fingerprint scanner, a heart rate reader, or a TV tuner button.

In fact, no one knows and everyone is guessing – we are added.

New USB-C slot

Breaking news: There's an extra USB-C slot on the Switch 2.

In a YouTube video, IGN This theorizes that there could be USB-C accessories coming to the device. Likewise, this can be an easy-to-use feature that allows you to top or bottom fill the device.

Sorry, that's too boring for now… but Nintendo always has some fun surprises up its sleeve, so maybe there's something interesting on the line here.

Mario Kart Evolution

The Switch 2 teaser trailer appears to feature gameplay from the new Mario Kart game.

Put side by side, the graphics seem to be a step up from the previous coin-op entry. Mario Kart 8 originally debuted for the Wii U over 10 years ago and was later remastered and expanded for the Switch, so the bump in graphics makes a lot of sense.

But there's a lot at play here, with new model designs, tracks and kart designs convincing fans that a new game is on the way. If true, many believe that the new game will have 24 players per race-Starting at 12—due to footage from the Switch 2 trailer.

Taking a closer look at the video, thanks to OneWorldly988 on Reddit, one kart has triangular tires and the other has skid wheels, leading to speculation that the tires may be more or less effective depending on the terrain.

In addition, maybe a fuel or nitro resource management mechanic will come to the game, with a tank on the side of Mario's vehicle and with some kind of container at the gas station.

We've been warned: Nintendo fans got a lot out of the two-minute trailer. We're sure there will be more Easter eggs and tidbits to be found, though, so maybe it's time to do some more digging.

More details about Switch 2 will be revealed on April 2 at the Nintendo Direct live streaming event. A full console will be released sometime this year.
