For the past two months, more than 30 million people have been playing the viral clicker game NotCoin on Telegram. In a messenger-based game, players click a button to “mine” coins. It's pretty simple, but it's a lot more involved than it sounds.
Initially, it was not clear if NotCoin would launch an actual cryptocurrency, but the group recently confirmed that it will launch a token on The Open Network (TON), which is targeted for late March or early April.
With an airdrop confirmed, let's dive into how to get the most out of Notcoin.
The core concept is one of the most straightforward game mechanics we've ever seen: press a button and receive notcoins. When you start playing you will have a full energy bar; My power bar had a maximum value of 1,000 as a new user, but you can buy boosters (using the collected notcoins) to increase it.
The power bar corresponds to how many coins you can earn by tapping. If your energy reaches zero, you'll have to wait for it to fill up or use a boost to top it up – before you can tap and earn more coins. That's the classic free-to-play game model, but in this case, you can actually clear these roadblocks with the coins you earn.
There are two free boost categories: Turbo and Full Energy. A turbo boost makes a rocket ship appear on tap, and if you tap a rocket, it takes you into “Turbo Mode” where you'll earn tons of Notcoins in a short tap. Meanwhile, a full power boost will fill your energy bar so you can continue farming. You get three of each free boost.
On the boost page in the Messenger game, you'll see a few more options to increase Notcoin's farming potential. You can use the notcoins you earn to purchase multitap, charging speed, and energy limit upgrades.
The upgrade section gives users access to the Auto Tap Bot, which they can purchase for 20,000 Notcoin. You can only buy the Auto Tap Bot after completing the Silver League, which you can quickly earn by using your free daily boosts and tapping.
And make sure to use all the free daily boosts as soon as possible. Not only is it the fastest way to get into the Silver League, but the free boosts don't expire every day – so there's no point in letting them go to waste.
To increase earning potential, maximize all available incentives as soon as possible and purchase an auto-tap bot to automate some of the tapping process. After all, who doesn't love passive income? The fastest way to earn a few hundred thousand Notcoins (to buy incentives) is by completing the missions under the “Earn” tab in the app.
The types of requests include things like joining multiple Telegram groups, connecting a Toon wallet to the app, and joining a “squad” of Notcoin players. The missions are divided into 3 different categories: Adventure, Special and Web3 World.
The boarding part is pretty simple: you earn rewards based on how many people you invite and completing activities like joining a Squad. The Specials Quest section is where you'll find tasks related to joining various online communities, and the Web3 World quests reward players for learning about different crypto protocols.
As for inviting friends, you will earn Notcoin based on their activity. Every time your referred friends move up the league, you will receive a bonus. Telegram Premium users receive the biggest bonus, but you can farm Notcoins in the free version of Telegram.
Once you've upgraded all your incentives and found your AutoTap Bot, stop by the app once every 12 hours to claim the tokens your AutoTap Bot has generated. And make sure to buy extra boosters with your Notcoin so that your Auto Tap Bot can increase its earning potential.
Basically, maximizing your Notcoin earnings comes down to these steps:
Use your free boosts to get to Silver League as soon as possible so that you can purchase an auto-tap bot. Complete missions to earn big Notcoin rewards and use those rewards to buy charging speed and power limit boosts. These will increase your overall earning potential. Stop by the game once a day to claim the rewards your bot has earned.
It's fine if you go a few days or two weeks without playing. But don't let 30 days go by without playing – NotCoin recently said it will gradually purge mining coins from inactive accounts ahead of the token's planned launch.
Do I have to withdraw money?
Notcoin recently announced a pre-market trading system that allows players with 10 million or more Notcoin to exchange their coins for NFT vouchers. The vouchers can be traded, bought or sold before the Notcoin token is launched on the Ton network, and can be redeemed afterwards.
This move allows players and outside observers to speculate on the final value of the NOT token. But IIf you don't want to exchange your in-game coins for vouchers, that's totally fine: you can exchange them directly for Notcoin tokens at launch.
As of Wednesday, the vouchers, equivalent to 10 million in-game coins, were trading at $31.50, or 7.5 tons. The voucher system seems to have breathed new life into the game, with more than 5 million daily active users on March 20, surpassing 30 million total players the previous day.
Should you withdraw your coins? Whether you participate in the voucher system or not, you are still taking the same risk: exposure to Notcoin price fluctuations. Whether or not you use NFT vouchers only determines the time you are exposed to those fluctuations.
However, converting to NFT vouchers is, at the moment, the only way to sell all the coins you've been tapping. That said, you're technically not losing anything by waiting for the token to launch. So if you don't want to take the risk now or don't want to deal with it then don't worry. Just keep tapping.
