Donald Trump's official meme coin nearly tripled in value from Saturday night to early Sunday, exploding above $73 as major central exchanges shared plans to list the Solana token.
Although the rally has since cooled and TRUMP has returned to $59, the price rose to $73.43 early Sunday, according to data from CoinGecko. That was enough to put the coin in the top 15 by market capitalization, although at its current price, it ranks 21st on CoinGecko's list.
Even with that slight pullback after surging below $25 on Saturday, TRUMP remains a resounding success, coming out of nowhere late Friday and showing early buyers huge profits — all while attracting and attracting attention from other commemorative coins. A big boost for Solana in the process.
Dogecoin, the original meme coin and still the largest by market cap, is now down 3% year-to-date as it continues to rally following the launch of TRUMP. Up 14 percent on the week thanks to gains ahead of Trump's fall, it has fallen to $0.39 from a high of $0.43 as of this writing.
And TRUMP is proving to be a tough contender. DOGE still has a very large market cap based on its vast supply – $57 billion and nearly $12 billion – TRUMP's Fully Diluted Value (FDV) based on its total supply, which includes 80% of the locked tokens. It will be opened gradually in the next three years.
TRUMP is currently the third largest meme coin by market cap, behind Shiba Inu (SHIB) in the running slot, while DOGE remains on top. But if this momentum continues, Trump's token could challenge Dogecoin more directly.
Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, listed TRUMP for trading after announcing plans early Sunday, and also listed the OKX trademark. And Coinbase, America's top exchange, has added TRUMP to its planned list, although recent additions to its roadmap are quickly available for spot trading.
Solana-native coin SOL continued its gains with TRUMP, rising to a new all-time high of $293 early Sunday. It is currently priced at $269, up 11% for the day and 43% for the week.
