OpenAI leadership responds to past employee security allegations

Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, CEO and President of ChatGPT maker OpenAI, recently took to X.com to publicly discuss the recent departure of Jan Lake, the company's former chief security officer.

As Cointelegraph recently reported, Like was in charge of alignment. It is remembered that he resigned on May 17 because he could not reconcile with the leaders of the organization.

Among Like's accusations is an assertion at OpenAI that “security culture and processes have taken a back seat to shiny products.”

It didn't take long for Brockman and Altman to respond, both taking to X.com to respond to Like's post within 24 hours.

As for Brockman's part, he laid out a long and winding post with a three-pronged strategy for security alignment at the company.

He began by thanking Lyke for his work at the company, before challenging claims that OpenAI is not focused on security.

“We first raised awareness of AGI's threats and opportunities,” wrote Brockman, adding that the company “called for AGI's global governance before such calls became popular.”

“Second, we are laying the foundations needed to safely deploy increasingly capable systems. Knowing how to make new technology secure the first time is not easy.

The final point of Brockman's speech was “The future will be more difficult than the past. We have to step up our security efforts to match the share of each new model.

He also stated that the company is not following the big technological mandate of moving fast and breaking things. “As we build in this direction, we're not sure when we'll reach our safety bar for release, and that's okay if that pushes release times.”

Co-founder and CEO Sam Altman kept his message short, but said he had more to say on the subject in the coming days:

He is correct. Referring to Like's comments, Altman posted, “We have a lot more work to do; We are determined to do it.
