Pakistan can become the world’s crypto leader by 2030
Pakistan's ability to “move fast” in crypto regulation and adoption could make it a world leader in crypto by 2030, according to former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao.
In a recent interview with Pakistan Crypto Council CEO Bilal Bin Saqib, CZ credited Pakistan's leadership with recognizing the demand for digital assets among its relatively young and tech-savvy population.
“I think it's great to see a country this size have this clear vision from the leadership and be able to move at this speed.”
“If we continue to move at this pace in five years, Pakistan will be a crypto leader, one of the crypto leaders in the world,” said CZ, who serves as a strategic advisor to the crypto council.

Pakistan has taken major steps to normalize its crypto ecosystem this year, including establishing the Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority, allowing crypto exchanges Binance and HTX to operate in the country, building a Bitcoin(BTC) reserve, and exploring real-world asset tokens to attract foreign investment and increase cash flow.
CZ appeared prominently on the idea of a Pakistani token
When asked about the potential benefits of a Pakistan Stock Market token, CZ responded:
Which country does not want the people of the world to buy its shares?
“Tokenization of stocks will allow the people of the world to buy those tokens, which is essentially a direct investment in Pakistani stocks,” CZ said.
CZ encouraged Pakistan to move quickly towards its tokenization plans, noting that the countries that implement them first will reap the maximum benefits.
Small Pakistani players can also experiment with crypto.
For individuals and small businesses, CZ said blockchain offers many opportunities compared to traditional banking and AI barriers to entry.
“If a young person wants to start a bank, the opportunities are very limited. […] If you want to build an AI company, you probably don't have big data, big computing, all the chips, so both industries need very little resources to start.

On the other hand, blockchain and crypto differ because they are all virtual, CZ said:
“Blockchain will never let you down.”
CZ says that “Blockchain is one of the best places for entrepreneurs,” but admits that there needs to be more education, university programs and incubators to foster innovation.
