NFT artist raised $140,000 for cancer support charity

NFT artist Trevor Jones has donated nearly $140,000 to Maggie's Edinburgh – an organization dedicated to cancer treatments – after raising money from a Web 3 event in France. Funds raised from the event will help 4,000 cancer patients and those in need of critical support.

According to Maggie Edinburgh, the money raised by Jones will be the largest single donation from an art event in the organization's history. Funds raised will benefit cancer patients and their families.

PayPal applies patent for NFT marketplace for on-chain or off-chain asset transactions.

Payments platform PayPal has filed a patent application for an NFT transfer and purchase system. The patent application was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in March and made public in September.

The patent describes a system that allows users to buy and sell NFTs through a service provider. Although the provider is not mentioned, the document mentions Ethereum, which suggests that it may be based in the network.

Despite the low interest in Metavas, the company believes that the concept will survive as long as people are willing to spend time and money on it.

According to Rebecca Barkin, CEO of Lamina1, the project managed to attract 50,000 builders despite the crypto winter and people writing praises for Metavas. The executive is hopeful that founder Neal Stephenson's vision of separation will challenge corporate greed and give creators more autonomy.
