PayPal to buy Cymbio to expand AI chatbot business tools

Paypal Set To Purchase Cymbio To Expand Ai Chatbot Commerce Tools

The Tel Aviv-based startup helps marketers expand product listings on AI chatbots.

PayPal has agreed to acquire Cymbio, an Israeli platform that helps merchants sell products on AI chatbots, as the payments firm doubles down on agent trading.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2026.

The move builds on PayPal's October release of AI-powered tools designed to help businesses promote their catalogs on forums. Symbio's infrastructure enhances PayPal's offering by enabling seamless product integration across chatbot environments such as Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot.

Major brands including Abercrombie & Fitch, Fabletics and Ashley Furniture already use PayPal tools to navigate shoppers with AI agents. Support for ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Gemini AI-powered search mode is expected soon.

Michelle Gill, EVP and GM of Small Business and Financial Services at PayPal, said the integration will help merchants expand product discovery and drive more sales across emerging AI marketing channels.
