Polygon CDK to power Indian e-commerce Flipkart's Web3 loyalty program

India's home e-commerce giant Flipkart will launch Polygon's chain development kit (CDK) Web3 loyalty program.

On December 2, Polygon and Flipkart announced a strategic partnership to effectively position their e-commerce platform on Web3 and Metaverse. This includes initiatives such as Flipverse for nonfungible tokens (NFTs), eDAO for metaverse and FireDrops NFT marketplace.

Building on this partnership, Polygon founder Sandeep Nilwal announced on December 7 that Flipkart will use the Polygon CDK to measure its Firedrops Web3 loyalty program.

Flipkart shared plans to use the Polygon SDK as a foundation to build an Ethereum-based zero-knowledge (ZK) Layer-2 network that will help the e-commerce platform scale future growth and streamline its services.

Using Polygon CDK, Flipkart offers a streamlined onboarding experience, limited block space and low transaction fees to its users along with other services. Announcing the initiative, Nilwal said:

“This is a game changer for the Web3 ecosystem in India. Not only does it have the potential to attract top fintech entrepreneurs in India to build Web3, it can also encourage many other enterprise and consumer brands to build their apps.”

Nilwal also believes that participation from leading organizations will further strengthen India as a Web3 powerhouse. “Future upgrades to Polygon's CDK will enable improved privacy for transaction data, the ability to run the chain without a token or central bank digital currency, and allow access to liquidity within the larger Polygon and Ethereum ecosystems,” Polygon said.

Naiwal's counterpart, Polygon founder Jordi Bailina, 2024 will see the integration of Polygon's various Ethereum layer-2 measurement networks to complete the “Polygon 2.0” cross-chain coordination protocol.

Speaking to Cointelegraph, he said that Polygon 2.0 will test how different networks of the Polygon ecosystem can scale and integrate by implementing zero-knowledge proofs.
