Polygon'S Co-Founder Is Down, Contributing 'On The Side'

Polygon co-founder Genty Kanani announced that he is stepping back from “the day-to-day” work on the project for the first time in six years.

In an Oct. 4 X (formerly Twitter) thread, Kanani said he plans to focus on “new adventures” while contributing to Polygon “on the side.” Along with software engineers including Sandeep Nilwal, Anurag Arjun and Mihailo Bjelic, Kanani helped found Matic Networks in 2017, which later spun off into Polygon.

“Man, this makes me emotional,” Nilwal said in response to the ad. “What a ride, bro. But it's just the beginning for Polygon, I wish we could do more together with this crazy Polygon. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Polygon's website lists 10 founders of the protocol, some of whom are still involved in various side projects on the platform. Arjun released Polygon in March when the blockchain data discovery protocol became unavailable.

Polygon Labs has begun accepting proposals for upgrades to transition the network to Polygon 2.0 after plans were announced in June. The new ecosystem will use zero-knowledge authentication and will consist of four protocol layers focused on stacking, joining, execution and authentication. At the time of publication, developers were still working on “Bringing Polygon 2.0 to Life”.
