South Korean game developer DeLabs Games has announced plans to bring its popular role-playing franchise Ragnarok to Telegram in Q1 2025, as the company looks to embrace the messaging platform's growing crypto gaming scene.
The Seoul-based company announced that the adaptation of the popular Ragnarok IP will focus on the maze-navigation game, incorporating new social features designed specifically for the Telegram environment.
The initiative is part of a broader strategic shift to Telegram by DeLabs Games, which received new funding from Ton Ventures and a private equity investor. Ton Ventures supports The Open Network (TON) ecosystem in 2024, the Telegram-aligned blockchain network behind games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat.
The company plans to adapt the mobile game Boxing Star, which is set to release in Q3 2025, on Telegram. Boxing Star has so far amassed over 70 million downloads across mobile platforms, the company said.
“Bringing Ragnarok to Telegram is a bold step in our strategy to bring popular IPs and mid-core games directly to players,” said Junmo Kwon, CEO of DeLabs Games, in a statement. “With Ragnarok, we're creating an enhanced experience not just for the root, but for Web3 features – without any of the complexity.”
DeLabs' Ragnarok game will be different from Ragnarok: Monster World, the game Ronin, which was launched on the Ethereum gaming network this year. That game, developed by Zero X and partnered with publisher Gravity, is a strategic mobile action experience in the vein of Supercell's hit game Clash Royale.
Before his latest pitch, DeLabs tested the waters of Telegram games with the baseball-themed “Giga Chad Bat,” which launched in July. The company's parent company, 4:33 Creative Labs, has previously integrated games like Blade and Hero into social platforms like South Korea's Kakao.
DeLabs previously launched the Mario Kart-esque PC racing game Rumble Racing Star, and is developing additional game projects such as Metabolts and Space Frontier.
