RFK Jr. floated a ‘Party of Unity’ with former President Trump
In an August 20 interview on the Impact Theory podcast, 2024 independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suggested Nicole Shanahan join a ticket with former President Donald Trump.
The independent vice presidential candidate denied rumors that she was in talks with the Harris campaign about a cabinet position or endorsements, calling both “fake news.”
Shanahan shifted the focus of the conversation to the Trump campaign, praising the former president's Kennedy-Shanahan campaign for taking “seriously” the concerns surrounding chronic disease and the drug lobby. The independent vice presidential candidate has hinted at joining forces with Trump, telling podcast host Tom Bilyeu:
I think we need to sit down and see if we can make a real difference, and if that's the Unity Party, I think that's something we need to test for the American people.
Following her proposal, Shanahan weighed in on the independent campaign's options, assessing the issue of ballot access and how the Kennedy campaign would now qualify in all 50 states. Despite this, Shanahan was stymied by the Kennedy campaign for “ruining” the Democratic National Convention, forcing the Kennedy campaign to run as a “spoiler” candidate in November.

Shanahan said the choice to withdraw from the 2024 presidential campaign and partner with former President Trump is at the heart of the Harris-Waltz presidency. She noted that the Kennedy-Shanahan campaign would draw a disproportionate amount of votes from the GOP-led Democratic campaign.
What does it mean for the crypto industry?
RFK Jr. His promise to end anti-crypto policies was welcomed by the crypto community. The independent presidential candidate pledged to back the US dollar with Bitcoin (BTC) in 2023 before the topic became a campaign issue supported by former President Trump.
However, the independent politician remains a long-shot candidate for the presidency, and staying in the race could split the vote between the two pro-crypto candidates, as Shanahan suggested in an Impact Theory interview.
