Ripple Mints 9.9 Million Rlusd Tokens To Ethereum Blockchain

TLDR

Ripple recently issued 9.9 million RLUSD tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. The creation follows a series of large RLUSD token burns led by Ripple. Newly minted RLUSD tokens are backed 1:1 by USD cash and equivalents. Ripple's strategy of generating and burning tokens helps balance the supply and demand of RLUSD. The latest innovation expands the availability of RLUSD for trading and use on the Ethereum network.

Ripple recently issued 9.9 million RLUSD tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. This comes as part of weeks of RLUSD burning and Ripple's ongoing supply management. The creation process is initiated when there is demand for additional RLUSD from exchanges, institutions or retail users.

The official Ripple USD (RLUSD) treasury account has added 9.9 million RLUSD tokens to the Ethereum blockchain. This move comes after a series of significant burns in March and April, after Ripple removed more than $230 million worth of RLUSD tokens from circulation. These token burns were part of Ripple's strategy to balance the supply of RLUSD between XRP Ledger and Ethereum.

“Mining is when there is demand for RLUSD, and the issuer, the Ripple Treasury smart contract, creates new tokens,” Ripple explained. These new tokens are backed 1:1 by USD cash and equivalents, held in controlled escrow accounts. As such, integrated tokens are fully backed by traditional assets, which ensure their value.

With this creation, the total supply of RLUSD will increase, and the tokens will now be available for use and trading. Ripple's token creation and burning approach is designed to keep the supply of RLUSD in line with market demand. The goal is to preserve the stablecoin's value and ensure liquidity in Ripple's ecosystem.

Ripple strengthens the presence of RLUSD in the Crypto market.

Ripple's RLUSD continues to strengthen its position in the crypto market with increased demand. The latest move adds to the continued expansion of RLUSD, a stablecoin designed to facilitate cross-border payments. According to a recent report, the Bitrue exchange now supports trading RLUSD alongside gold options such as PAXG and XAUT.

The stablecoin stock is at $1.56 billion, exceeding the market supply of $1.49 billion tokens. This shows Ripple's continued growth in the stablecoin sector. Binance has also integrated RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, which allows users to transfer RLUSD directly on the network.

Ripple launched RLUSD on December 17, 2024, aiming to provide liquidity and improve cross-border payments. With multiple exchange integrations and strong support, RLUSD is becoming more integrated into the broader crypto ecosystem.
