Roblox CEO ‘Dreams’ of In-Game Cross-Platform NFTs and Digital Objects
David Bazuki, the lead player of the popular virtual universe game Roblox, says he has a ‘dream' of being able to move intangible tokens (NFTs) and digital objects across multiple platforms.
Following the company's Q3 2023 earnings call, Roblox founder and CEO Bazuki spoke in a recent CNBC interview about the role of major influencers in the widespread adoption of NFTs and digital collectibles. He believed in the idea that users could move their collections to non-native platforms:
“There's a bit of a dream here as materials and NFTs move from platform to platform.”
For example, Baszucki says A-list celebrities like Elton John can sign up on Roblox to make and sell limited-edition collectibles like caps for charity. These types of collectibles can be removed from the Roblox platform as NFTs and sold in other marketplaces.
“Our expectation is that creators, whether it's Elton John or Nike or anyone else, play a key role in creating something digital and have real control over that process,” Bazuki said.
Roblox's latest earnings call revealed a loss in Q3; But the company posted 20% year-over-year growth on high in-game spending and overall user base estimates.

Bazuki's growing interest in NFTs is in line with overall market sentiment, with blockchain analytics company Nansen reporting a surge in NFT sales in November.
For the past 5 weeks, NFT volume has been steadily increasing.
The bottom week close was October 9, NFT weekly volume was 29,704 ETH, compared to the previous week, week ending November 6, NFT sales volume reached 68,342 ETH.
