Semler Scientific tops Bitcoin Stash purchase for $30M



Healthcare technology provider Semler Scientific increased its bitcoin holdings again with a $30 million purchase, bringing the total to 1,873 BTC.

According to the publicly released data, Semler Scientific purchased 303 BTC between November 25 and December 4 at an average price of $96,779 per bitcoin, including fees and expenses. The company made the purchase using the proceeds from an on-market stock offering.

Semler announced a new BTC purchase

Following his latest purchase, Semler said he spent $147.1 million on average, $78,553 to buy bitcoin. At the current bitcoin price of $98,450, Stosh is worth over $184.39 million. When BTC rallied to over $103,000 on December 5, Semler's portfolio was valued at over $192 million.

Currently, the healthcare provider has a net profit of $37.29 million. The company's BTC yield from October 1 to December 4 was 54.7%, showing impressive quarter-to-date growth. Since July 1, 2024, the quarter since Semler Scientific adopted its Bitcoin Treasury strategy, the company's BTC yield has reached 78.7%.

Semler Chairman Eric Semler said, “We are very pleased to report a BTC yield of 78.7%. Additionally, we have sought permission from options exchanges to trade options in stocks as we believe we meet their eligibility requirements.

14th largest public BTC holder

Since Semler Scientific adopted Bitcoin seven months ago, the company has bought the major cryptocurrency from time to time. These purchases were financed with proceeds from sales of common stock.

The last BTC purchase was in mid-November, and the move added 297 BTC to Semler's Bitcoin balance sheet, bringing the stock to 1,570 BTC. The recent acquisition boosted the company's bitcoin portfolio to 1,873 BTC, making Semler now the 14th largest public company holding bitcoin, according to data from BitBo's Bitcoin Treasuries page.

Meanwhile, Semler Scientific isn't the only company that has recently acquired BTC quickly. Business intelligence firm MicroStrategy announced that the holder of publicly traded BTC has increased its holdings to 402,100 after buying 15,400 bitcoins for an estimated $1.5 billion earlier this week.
