Sidney Sweeney X’s account was hacked to promote Crypto memecoin
American actress Sydney Sweeney's X account has now been deleted with deleted posts.
Solana-based token SWEENEY collected more than $10 million in trading volume within two hours of its launch on July 2, boosted by several promotional posts from the Sweeney X account.
“I think now is the time… $sweeney is 100mc in live streaming,” said one of Sweeney's now-deleted X posts, which Cointelegraph could not independently verify.
Swinney's price dropped nearly 90% in a few hours starting at 6:15 PM UTC, though it has partially rebounded since then. The market cap currently sits at $1.2 million, down from a high of $3.85 million, DEX Screener data shows.
The administrator of the Telegram channel linked to the token shared by Sweeney X's account appears to have taken credit for the hack.
In the now-deleted posts, they claimed to be behind the recent X-Tag hacks that used the X-Tag to promote similar fake brands against rapper 50 Cent and former wrestler Hulk Hogan. He added that they would soon be targeting a more “famous” celebrity than Sweeney, but did not provide specifics.
This is the second time Sweeney X's account has been hacked to promote a crypto token. Her account was hacked in January, with hackers promoting Solana's token MILK, which currently has a market cap of $1 million.
The attack comes after several celebrities turned to promoting crypto tokens.

Media personality Caitlyn Jenner and rapper Iggy Azalea both launched and backed Solana-based memecoins, which they say initially involved memecoin co-founder Sahil Arora.
American rapper “Rich The Kid”, Nigerian singer David Addeji Adeleke On and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather are among other celebrities who have signed with their X label.
Azalea's mother token was the best performing celebrity token of the lot, reaching $148.9 million at the market cap.
However, nearly $100 million has been shaved off the market since then, CoinGecko data shows.
