Singapore Prime Minister Warns Residents of Deep Scams Using Analogy to Crypto Scams
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has warned his followers on social media to beware of fake videos using his voice and image to promote cryptocurrency scams.
On December 28 on X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn and Facebook, Long urged his followers not to respond to scammers using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create elaborate hoaxes that claim the prime minister will “return on investments” and give crypto gifts. Long shared a video of himself being interviewed to promote a form of “hands-free crypto trading” created by scammers.
“The use of advanced disinformation technology to spread disinformation will continue to grow,” Long said. “We must learn to be vigilant and protect ourselves and our loved ones from such scams.”

Long has been a target for fraudsters since before the advent of certain AI tools.
