Snowden follows Bitcoin devs, Elon Musk, and puppy killers in the X-Fry

Edward Snowden, a former US National Security Agency contractor charged with espionage after leaking classified information, had a busy day on the X social media app on May 2 when he seemed to have a vitriol mod for everyone from the current governor. South Dakota's richest man in the world.

In the year Snowden, who lives in asylum in Russia until 2022 and is granted full citizenship, has gained media attention for his leaks in the case. He currently holds a level of popularity, especially among some technology-based communities, and is known for speaking out on issues related to freedom and privacy.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk, another prominent technologist known for speaking out on freedom-related issues, was among those who drew Snowden's ire during his May 2 victory parade. Snowden accused the billionaire of giving a lesson in freedom of expression after Musk posted a question asking whether anyone who “tears down the American flag and puts up another flag” should be deported.

“First and foremost,” Snowden began in a post on Musk's X social media platform, “Americans' freedom of expression, including all forms of flag-shaming and other objectionable acts, is protected by the Constitution for good reason.” Then someone asked what would happen if the United States flag were replaced by a flag with a McDonald's logo on it.

In a separate post, Snowden continued:

“Because even the law defined as the ‘supreme law of the land' like the constitution has no force of its own. The color cannot jump off the page to fight for your rights. Law can protect the people only when the people protect the law. The power comes from within ourselves.

Musk didn't seem to respond.

Bitcoin

In the case of Bitcoin (BTC), Snowden issued what he called his final warning:

“I've been warning Bitcoin developers for almost a decade that privacy needs to be provided at the protocol level,” he wrote, “and this is the last warning.” The clock is ticking.”

The warning was triggered by the news that Wasabi Wallet developer zkSNACKs is shutting down.

It's unclear exactly what Snowden warned about, but the whistleblower has been a fan and advocate of cryptocurrency, particularly bitcoin.

Christie Nom

After commenting on the state of free speech on X and the future of Bitcoin, Snowden delivered his comments on South Dakota Governor Kristy Noem.

The embattled Republican has recently been the target of a lot of social and cultural media backlash, after parts of her recent book appeared to include the story of her shooting a 14-month-old puppy in the head.

Noem has since continued to defend her actions to the best of her ability under the law and went so far as to say in a subsequent comment that the puppy was untrained and dangerous.

It is these comments that have alienated Snowden and drawn comparisons between excessive force in law enforcement and Noah's animal policies.

Snowden's post called NoM a “puppy killer,” adding, “Okay girl, sure.” Soon the police union tells us that the puppy is coming right; A sudden movement, she feared for her life.
