Solana cracks assertive sandwich attacks.
The Solana Foundation has removed from its delegation program a group of operators proven to be involved in sandwich attacks on merchants.
Authenticators are identified through memepool.
In a sandwich attack, a malicious trader searches a network of their choice, such as Ethereum, for a pending transaction. Sandwiching occurs by placing one order before the transaction and another immediately after.
The attacker places the first pending transaction between the front-run and the back-run to control the price of the asset and profit from the difference.
This attack guarantees that retail investors will always receive the worst possible price while the attacker keeps all the profits for themselves.
Assertive operators are distinguished by their participation in Mempool, which allows for a sandwich attack. The decision is based on the Solana Foundation's rules prohibiting verifiers from malicious activity. Convicted verifiers will not be assigned any future proxy work.
Tim Garcia, head of Solana's authenticator communications, took to Discord to announce the removal of authenticators, saying that “engaging as a private member in sandwich attack transactions or harming Solana users will not be tolerated by the proxy program.” Gracia added:
“Anyone found to be engaging in such activity will be disqualified from the program and any shares of the Foundation will be immediately and permanently removed.”
Solana Foundation Representative Program
The Solana Foundation Delegation Program was established to relieve validators of the burden of holding a large number of tokens by allocating Solana (SOL) tokens.
Delegation allows users to grant holding rights to a Casmas pool or validator. Validators, on the other hand, are responsible for creating blocks and validating transactions. These validators are selected based on their performance.

Therefore, verifiers using third-party meme pools to defraud retail users out of money are not acceptable. Mert Mumtaz, co-founder of Solana's remote procedure call provider Helios, explained to X-Post the problem with operators looking to profit from retail users. He said some operators have added mods to their authenticators to enable sandwiching on Solana.
Mumtaz added that Solana Foundation has delegated to help launch SOL to the verifiers. The Solana Foundation says it is committed to protecting retail users from being exploited by those who use the system for their own personal gain. He is particularly concerned about protecting consumers from losing their investments through such fraud.
