Solana Saga sells for up to $5K on eBay as Bonk drives sales
A Solana Saga phone has apparently sold for as much as $5,000 on eBay – more than eight times its retail cost – after the free memecoin took off in a bid to make the devices available for sale on the official website for the first time.
According to a Dec. 16 listing on online marketplace eBay, two unopened, boxed phones were recently sold, listed for $5,000, or “best offer,” and another device sold for $3,316, or “best offer.”
An additional 20 devices managed to sell for more than $2,000 over the weekend, more than $1,400 from the original price tag of $599 on Solana Mobile's website.
Since the device's launch on May 8, every new Saga phone has come with an airdrop of a free 30 million BONK token. Traders began to realize last week that the price hike in Bonk meant that the free Airdrop had become more valuable than the device itself – making the phone a “sold out” from December 16.
The saga is sold out!

Buyers of these Skull Saga phones can bet that the price of memecoin will continue to appreciate even more. In the last 30 days, Bonk has risen almost 800% as the token has gained mass traction among memecoin fans and lucky traders.
However, in order for traders to achieve the eye-watering price of $5,000, Bonk's price would need to grow by an additional 620% from its current price. This would see BONK command a total market cap of $8.68 billion – putting it on par with Tron (TRX) or Polkadot (DOT).

However, buyers of the phones don't seem to be just betting on bonk prices, as several Solana-based projects have recently announced airdrops and other cash incentives for device users.
In a Dec. 17 post on X (formerly Twitter), the founder of the Diffi protocol, Solend confirmed that the team is working on an airdrop for Saga Phone owners.
