The public pool (public-pool.io) carries zero fees and is completely open, with miners often running on Umbrella's home. Nodes. Like true solo pools, Parasite distributes some regular payouts to profitable mines, making it a middle ground between a pure lottery and a fixed pool.
Futurebit Solo, tied to the Apollo hardware line, shows 3 confirmed blocks in Coinbase account data: height 888737 (March 21, 2025), 867760 (October 28, 2024) and the third for 256 foundations at height 881423 (January 29) 25. These blocks are Apollo hardware and Solo FutureBit miners will hold the tokens.
Some hardware behind the win
The machines that do this work are compact, quiet and designed for home or office use.
Bitaxe Gamma 601 is an open source alternative. A BM1370 chip runs at around 1.2 TH/s, draws around 17 watts and costs between $89 and $150. AxeOS firmware is community maintained and updated regularly. Multiple Bitaxe units can be stacked when you can manage a power draw to multiply lottery tickets.
Canaan's Avalon Nano 3S offers 6 TH/s at 140 watts in plug-and-play form, priced around $249 to $299. It doubles as a small heater and has a WiFi connection and a bitcoin Address.
Futurebit Apollo III is a more expensive option. Produces 10 to 12 TH/s in Eco mode with full Bitcoin node Built in, it allows true sovereign solo mining without any external pool proxy. It starts at around $899 and launches in early 2026.
Of course, solo miners can use older bitcoin mining machines, including older models from manufacturers like Bitmain, Canaan, MicroBT, and others. Built by major application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) makers, these classic units still offer meaningful hashrate, making them a viable option for home-based mining enthusiasts.
Old miners and even the newer compact models mentioned above can be found on secondary markets and auction sites like eBay.
What does this mean for the network?
With a Bitcoin network hashrate of over 900 EH/s, a low TH/s device solo win is a truly low-probability event. But the data shows that it keeps happening once in a while. CKPool alone has facilitated more than 40 unique discoveries over three years. Across all five pools, our news desk has been tracked since June 9, 2023, and the total count is over 50 of the only confirmed wins.
Each discovery represents a home miner walking away with a six-figure payout. Each one represents a block that is mined outside of the industrial mining ecosystem, for those who see decentralization as part of Bitcoin's value.
