Sophon ZKSync hyperchain tops $60M in node sales.
Sofon has acquired entertainment-focused zkSync Hyperchain for $60 million worth of Wrapped Ether (wETH) in a node sale.
The funding will be used to launch Sofone, an artificial intelligence (AI) and gaming-focused ecosystem built as a modular package of zero-knowledge (ZK) technology, aiming to launch in the third quarter of 2024.
The sale of the $60 million intersection is considered high for a fledgling project. According to Seb, co-founder of Sofone, entertainment-oriented use cases such as gaming and AI require reliable infrastructure, which could be part of the node's sales success.
Sab for Cointelegraph:
“Gaming and AI want their technology partners to be able to scale with cheap and robust infrastructure. Choosing ZK Tech here is because the TPS capacity is much larger than in bright settings, and especially in the zkSync codebase, the fees are minimal – so the gas doesn't change much.”
Both games and AI protocols rely on robust infrastructure to handle user demand and the large volume of microtransactions associated with these use cases. Seb added:
“Gaming or AI protocols generate millions of transactions, and run zkEVM. [zkEthereum Virtual Machine] In validium mode, it guarantees low fees as well as highly scalable infra, which won't crash when there's network congestion.
The node sale offered a total of 200,000 nodes for purchase, and participation from Spartan, SevenX and OKX Ventures follows Sophos' recent $10 million funding round from notable investors, including Paper Ventures and Maven 11.

Beyond raising capital, the recent cross-selling aims to create a community of core owners who can expect airdrops and other valuable rewards. Seb explained:
“The cross-selling is basically creating a Baggage OG community of thousands of people before we launch the chain. We always strive to provide value to them through releases, airdrops and other projects.
Airdrops are a popular way to attract new users to early stage decentralized finance (DeFI) protocols. It involves issuing new tokens to early users who have previously interacted with the protocol.
Through its future incentives, SOFON aims to build a strong community of developers and enthusiasts that can expand the network impact of projects that build on the protocol. Seb added:
“This is incredibly valuable and extremely attractive to builders. This accelerates the very positive flywheel effect that grows the community and makes it worthwhile to choose Sofone over other options for gaming or AI projects.
