Space And Time Releases An Open Source Gpu Accelerator For Zk-Proof Protocols

Using zero-knowledge proof (ZK-proof) technology, Blockchain protocols can be integrated into a new open source GPU acceleration framework to facilitate encryption technology.

Decentralized Web3 data service Space and Time recently announced that its graphics processing unit (GPU) acceleration framework is publicly available to the wider Web3 ecosystem.

ZK-proofs are cryptographic protocols that allow one party to verify certain information or data to another party without revealing the information itself. The technology ensures data confidentiality while ensuring authenticity.

Jay White, the company's founder and head of research, told Cointelegraph that unlocking the accelerator Blitzer aims to benefit from “faster and stronger ZK-proofs” being uploaded by the community to the repository.

White explains that the ZK-proof generation works by offloading GPU-accelerated tasks to GPUs to optimize performance. ZK-proofs are computationally demanding and hardware acceleration frameworks facilitate the process.

Blitzar is specifically designed for GPUs, such as the ZK-proof generation, that are capable of handling heavy computational tasks. GPUs provide an efficient memory structure for handling large data sets, which are a key component of ZK-proofs.

It is open to any space and time framework looking for performance improvements regarding multi-scalar multiplication.

“One of the most expensive parts of producing ZK-proof is the multi-scalar multiplier that we focused on for blizzard acceleration.”

As previously reported, the Space and Time service provides Structured Query Language (SPL) programming functionality for smart contract blockchains using ZK-proof technology.

His proprietary SQL ZK-proof tool generates SNARK cryptographic proof in a decentralized data network, allowing users to trust that their data query is valid and not tampered with.

SQL authentication allows decentralized applications (DApps) to run a query against Space and Time's data store and aggregate the results into a smart contract. The SQL authentication ensures reliable, efficient and privacy-preserving data validations.

The technology is designed to provide on-chain and off-chain data for blockchain services, advanced computing, artificial intelligence and large scale linguistic models.

White added that Space and Time uses NVIDIA GPUs for SQL proofing, and that both ZK-proof and Blitzar development is supported by a partnership with the hardware manufacturer.

Co-founder Blizzard said it could use Ethereum layer 2 protocols like Polygon's zkEVM and zkSync Era to facilitate their ZK-evidence generation.

“SQL development validation is advancing exponentially, and soon we're even seeing sub-second runtimes. The protocol is still in alpha and has been adopted by a few Space and Time customers,” explains White.

ZK-proof protocols In 2023 Several protocols for DApps and services running on the Ethereum blockchain have gone live, making them faster and cheaper.
