Coinbase is strengthening and expanding its product portfolio to include more sophisticated trading and infrastructure offerings for retail and institutional clients.

The crypto giant said on Wednesday that it is expanding stocks, futures and perpetual trading as well as prediction markets and decentralized finance on Solana.

Beyond trading, the company is adding an end-to-end solution alongside Coinbase Tokenize that allows institutions to bring assets on-chain.

“It (Coinbase Tokenize) combines issuance, protection, compliance and trading in one place. On the one hand, we have millions of retail and institutional investors who hold more than $500 billion in assets on our platform, and Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, speaking at the Coinbase system update on Wednesday.

“On the other hand, we work with the world's largest institutions and funds, who already trust us for institutional level protection. So we can help them distribute their products and make this market. Coinbase Tokenize brings new assets in the chain, from stocks to private companies, funds, real estate and more,” he added.

Taken together, the new wave of product launches furthers Coinbase's ambitious plan to transform itself from a business venture into a unified hub for multiple financial services.

“Coinbase is no longer a crypto exchange. It's a place where you trade everything,” Armstrong said.

To support developers and businesses, Coinbase has introduced enterprise APIs focused on escrow, payments, trading and stablecoins, targeting high-level use cases for rapid adoption.

One of its main focuses is Coinbase Custom Stablecoins, which the company says will enable businesses to have branded, fully-backed stablecoins with activity-based rewards, cross-chain and global distribution access.

Another focus is Coinbase Business, which is now open to eligible users in the US and Singapore following beta testing. The platform aims to address key pain points in trade payments such as expensive cross-border transfers, long settlement times, limited global reach and excessive transaction friction.

On Base, Coinbase has announced that it is out of beta and open to everyone.

“Promoting economic freedom around the world has always been our mission, and that's how we bring these products to you,” Armstrong said.
