'Superior intelligence in a few years' - SingularityNET CEO

The Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI), formed by decentralized platforms SingularityNET, Fetch.ai and Ocean Protocol, has moved its token merger to July 15.

Despite the merger's delay, Ben Goertzel, founder and CEO of SingularityNET and ASI, told Cointelegraph that the world could see “superhuman intelligence in a few years.”

The delay is due to the need for further technical and logistical preparations. Humayun Shaikh, CEO of Fetch.ai explained:

“This temporary delay does not affect the great progress we have made in creating a decentralized superintelligence network. Our teams are actively working with the central exchange to complete the remaining steps.

Long-term goals of integration

Speaking to Cointelegraph, Goertzel spoke about the road ahead:

“The long-term goal […] It's about creating superintelligence and doing it on a decentralized infrastructure. And this is not an immediate goal, but a medium-term one. Our aim is to enable smarter and smarter AI systems to run on a decentralized infrastructure, moving these towards general intelligence.

Join forces for a better chance of success

Goertzel told Cointelegraph that the goal is to unify the efforts of all AI and blockchain projects to develop decentralized artificial general intelligence (AGI).

“If someone has human-level AGI, this system can make itself smarter and smarter, moving it toward superintelligence. […] Our competitors in this mission are trillion-dollar-plus Big Tech companies. […] So joining forces seems to give us a greater chance of success.

To singularity… and beyond

Speaking to Cointelegraph about AGI's timeline and when we expect this level of technology to be unveiled, Goertzel said:

“Could be three years. Could be eight years. Most likely this year. Most likely 2100. I think we'll get together there.” […] I think we're getting close, and I think we'll see superhuman superintelligence within a few years.

In a previous article on AGI Predictions, Goertzel spoke about Ray Kurzweil, an American inventor, futurist and author known for his work on artificial intelligence (AI):

“Kurzweil predicted human-level AGI in 2029 and the singularity in 2045, but I think he underestimated the speed at which AGI could improve its own intelligence.”

Support for late ASI integration is provided on the official AGIX, FET and OCEAN channels as well as on the ASI channel.
