Superrare Expands To Bitcoin Ordinals, Unveils 'No Brainers' Nft Collection

Non-exploding token (NFT) marketplace SuperRare has jumped into the Bitcoin Ordinals ecosystem through a partnership with Bitcoin-based art platform Gamma.

Superrare's move to the ecosystem marks a shift to more chainability in his career. Initially, the NFT marketplace only supported transactions on the Ethereum blockchain.

Zach Younger, Senior Vice President of SuperRare Labs, told Cointelegraph that their decision to move into Bitcoin NFTs was due to strong demand from their artist community.

This has led to the decision to experiment with Ordinals to support artists using the platform. Liquidity is one of the downsides of Bitcoin Ordinals for artists, Younger added. he said:

“Bitcoin is by far the largest blockchain with the most potential liquidity. If we can help artists connect with a new class of crypto collectors, we consider that a huge win.”

After Younger started exploring the Bitcoin Ordinals ecosystem in 2023, he found a lot of people working in the space and realized there was a lot of growth in Ordinals. Younger describes the teams that build on Ordinal as “thoughtful” and “intelligent.”

While many consider Ordinal an innovation, not all members of the crypto community are enthusiastic about the protocol. Some even accuse them of bringing ordinal digital spam to the Bitcoin network.

Despite this, Yanger believes that Bitcoin Ordinals are here to stay. For the high-value digital art market, where high transaction fees are less of a problem, I can see ordinary ones having a bright future.

Referring to the recent BTC price action, Younger said he is looking forward to seeing what the write fees will be as the price of Bitcoin (BTC) continues to grow. Bitcoin hit a new all-time high of $73,737.94 on March 14, crypto tracker CoinGecko said.

Superrare has teamed up with artist Killer Acid on Bitcoin Ordinals to launch the “No Brainers” NFT collection. The artist is known for his mysterious, humorous and detailed psychedelic art.
