Telegram's inspiration follows the success of known usernames and unknown numbers. Already, users can earn up to 95% of revenue from the sale of unique usernames.

Tokenization is the next step in Telegram's development, Durov said, highlighting the role blockchain technology will play in it. According to the Telegram CEO, the project will use the Open Network (TON) blockchain “exclusively”.

Commenting on his success so far, Durov said:

“We don't want to stay there. We want to go further. You see, we believe in socially-oriented NFTs. We believe in NFTs that are deeply integrated into human culture, human interaction, our relationships. NFTs can be viewed tens of billions of times and have a lot of potential to go viral. These are the actual NFTs. That's why our next step is to simulate Telegram stickers.

TonCoin (Ton), the native token of the Ton blockchain, has surged in recent months after Telegram released its ‘ad network'. Users can now pay for ads within the platform, an initiative that gives 50% of ad revenue to channel owners and creators.

Earlier today, the price of a ton rose sharply to $7.20 in NFT news. The token's value also gained after news of the launch of Tether USDT, the stablecoin provider, on the Ton blockchain.
