Tether expands AI operations with global recruiting initiative for top-level talent
Tether Operations Ltd., the blockchain and cryptocurrency company behind the Tether stablecoin, has announced a strategic expansion of its artificial intelligence (AI) focus alongside a global recruitment drive for “top-tier” talent for its AI division.
The expanded strategic focus comes from the threat of “monopoly of AI technologies by Big Tech,” according to a Tether press release. The company said Tether's data division is “moving forward to champion transparency and privacy in AI model development.”
Teter also said the company's strategic AI expansion will build on previous initiatives, including its recent investment in North Data Group.
A company spokesperson told Cointelegraph:
“Tether plans to push the boundaries of AI technology by making high-performance and privacy-preserving AI technologies accessible for personal use, setting new industry standards for innovation and usability. The investment in North Data Group will help Tether pursue AI projects using North Data's highly advanced GPU and compute infrastructure; To solve real-world challenges in a way that is more concrete and transparent than what we've seen from leading companies today, the potential of AI is so constructive that its impact may be greater than the Internet itself.
As part of the expansion, Tether has put forward a three-dimensional approach. The first part of the plan is to “develop open-source, multimodal AI models to set new industry standards, foster innovation and access in AI technology.”
The next phase of expansion involves leading collaborations to bring products and services to market and “using the technology to solve real-world challenges.”
Finally, Tether intends to actively participate with the “broader ecosystem of community contributions” to demonstrate its products and “advance the field of open AI.”
The company has announced a global recruitment drive seeking “top-level” talent for its AI division. Tether Data's recruitment page shows two available positions, one for AI Engineer and the other for Head of AI. Both places are in Europe.
“As of now, Tether is actively recruiting for this new unit,” Tether told Cointelegraph.
