The ATP Tennis Tour offers customizable 2023 finals posters via NFT Drop

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has partnered with digital art platform Artchild to launch fan-customisable digital and physical tennis posters for the 2023 Nito ATP Finals in Turin, Italy later this month.

The original poster will be designed by Los Angeles-based artist Glory Titus for the season-ending tournament from November 12-19. Tito Tennis, known internationally for his tennis-themed paintings, said in a release that it was “so rich in history and rich in aesthetic emotion that it made an ideal subject for the artist.”

Fans can customize their own versions of the official Nitto ATP Finals poster on Articil's digital platform using artist-selected color palettes. The posters will be printed and sent to buyers along with a collection of NFTs produced on Polygon, the Ethereum scale network.

Some of the fan-designed posters will be displayed on the Pala Alpiter stage of the tournament. The original Titus poster will be available only at the 2023 Finals and will sell for $50 plus shipping, which covers both the NFT version and physical prints. Available online and at the Nitto ATP Finals Fan Village.

Singles players competing in the Nito ATP Finals will also create special versions of the poster to be sold for charity during the event. The proceeds support local initiatives to promote green spaces in the host city of Turin.

The ATP said the collaboration “builds on a long-standing legacy of iconic sports posters” collected by generations of fans. ATP Communications and Website Director Mark Epps said the organization was inspired to “reimagine one of the most iconic pieces of art in tennis culture: the tournament poster.”

This is not ATP's first NFT initiative. Last November, the league teamed up with artist Martin Grazer on the generative art platform ArtBlocks to create a “Love” digital art series based on match data from the 2022 Finals. Owners of those “love” NFT pieces can claim one of the 2023 customizable posters for free.
