According to Legendary Games, the mobile game had over 5 million downloads and over 115 million plays in its first season. The second season, called “Year 2,” will introduce new game modes, “exclusive” pack drops, and new ways for fans to engage with the sport.
Earlier this week, Mythical announced a deal with the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, to name NFL Rivals the team's official mobile game. The partnership includes branding opportunities for the game at the team's Arrowhead Stadium, among other collaborations.

The iOS and Android soccer game sees players act as Team Managers (GMs), play and try to win matches against teams in the league. While at its core serving as a traditional free-to-play game, NFL Rivals is built around select NFT playing cards, with the studio adding an in-game marketplace last August to streamline the marketing process for digital collections.
Linden believes the addition of the NFT marketplace has taken the game to a new level, adding “another dimension” to NFL rivals that wouldn't otherwise be possible. He believes that the introduction of a new player-player (PvP) mode will have a similar effect on the future of mobile gaming.
Linden added: “The upcoming and highly anticipated PvP mode should be the biggest update to NFL Rivals since the Marketplace went live, and it's one we know our players will be very excited about.”
