The Starknet Team Details The Latest Network Outages.

The outage was the second major network outage in 2025, with both events requiring block reorganizations that would roll back some activity.

The team behind Starknet has released a post-mortem report detailing the root cause of the temporary mainnet outages of Ethereum's Layer-2 (L2) scale network.

The main network delay is caused by a difference in network conditions between the blockchain's execution layer and the layer that verifies that the execution layer is processing transactions correctly, the report said. The Starknet team explained:

“In a certain combination of cross-function calls, variable writes, returns, and fetches, the block recalled a state write that occurred in the returned function, resulting in incorrect transaction execution.

This incorrect performance never saw the L1 end thanks to Starknet's authentication,” the Starknet team said, highlighting how the authentication layer works by noting the error and not placing erroneous transactions on the ledger.

The incident forced a rescheduling, and caused 18 minutes of network activity to be restored. StarkNet has returned to normal operation, the team said.

The incident prompted the team to commit to testing and auditing to prevent similar problems in the future. Monday's StarkNet outage also highlights the challenge of coding the latest blockchain networks, which involve a multi-layered technology stack.

Monday's outage was not the first time Starknet has experienced disruption in 2025

StarNet experienced several disruptions in 2025, the most serious outage following a major protocol update called Grinta in September.

According to a post-mortem report by the Starknet team, the outage took more than five hours and was plagued by a series of errors. Chains are systems used to order transactions on the blockchain network.

Block production was halted during the outage, and two chain reorganizations were performed to restore the network.

The reorganization forced about 1 hour of network activity to roll back or roll back, meaning users had to resubmit transactions.

From a user's point of view, re-entering the trade is a bit of a pain, if the trade is not timed, but a repeat trader or investor may leave the position in a short period of time, or cause a disaster for the investor who wants to post.
