The Bitcoin community has witnessed the massive sale of Ordinals text as digital artifacts begin to resurface on the larger blockchain network.

According to a tweet by Solana-based non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace Magic Eden, the turn number 8 from Honey Badgers was sold at a price of 10.4 bitcoins (BTC) for about $450,000.

Article #8 was purchased by anonymous X user OG General, who was given a legend on the Magic Eden post. On January 15th, he explained that the 1 satoshi per byte (sat/vB) text was created when no one cared about plain text.

“Back at work, I'm just warming up. LFG!!… There is only one web 3 we all have to work on. This community, you are all built differently. Special thanks to everyone who taught me and raised me so quickly. Turns is not about one sale, it's where we all go. We are truly blessed and privileged to own a piece of our history,” added the OG General.

In the witness section of BTC transactions, formal texts, which are artworks such as texts, images and videos, have recently resurfaced. A product of Taproot's soft fork, the method was designed to count the number of individual satoshis of the smallest denomination of BTC. The data entry on the Bitcoin network eventually led to the creation of Bitcoin NFTs.

Chapters of gender

Magic Eden opened a marketplace for Bitcoin NFTs in March to allow casual fans to easily trade their collections. Bitcoin's scripts have inspired the creation of similar protocols on other blockchains, such as Ethereum's Ethereum.

According to data from blockchain ecosystem analysis platform Dune, since the protocol's launch in December 2022, $148 million has been spent on payments related to more than 46.5 million formal texts. The project has achieved several milestones, including the first sale of a coin called Bitcoin. Shrooms at multinational auction house Sotheby's.

Unfortunately, Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjar recently called for the Ordinals protocol to be shut down, claiming that his posts are exploiting a vulnerability and leading to blockchain spam.
