The big news
X Empire airdrop: Telegram tap-to-earn game X Empire has completed its final mining run, shutting down the game ahead of the launch of the X token on The Open Network (TON) this Thursday. The game's short-lived “Child Phase,” formerly known as “Musk Empire,” lasted more than two weeks, giving players one last shot at getting a big chunk of tokens before the October 24 airdrop.
This isn't the first time the X Empire has gone through this process. The game completed months of original mining on September 30, with plans to launch the X token soon. But after two days it will come back and restart with “Chill Phase” giving players 5% of the total token supply.
However, not everyone is happy about leaving the weather. After the game announced its airdrop allocation to players on Friday, many complained that they were completely left out — and the game's creator revealed that only 6 million players were eligible out of a total of more than 50 million total players.
Some gamers have taken to Twitter to complain about Elon Musk… but despite the original name and cartoon avatars featuring him, it actually has nothing to do with the game.
Hamster Kombat Season 2: We found out that the second season of the Telegram-based crypto game Hamster Kombat was coming later this month, but on Thursday, the developers revealed the theme — and it's a big change.
Hamster CEO: Instead of running your own crypto exchange, now you start and expand your own development studio, create games, build your team and open a platform for such games. A short demo shows development activities that can take days to complete, but also shows the return of touch play, the usual daily combo, and more.
Moonray on PS5: The creators of Ethereum-based battleground game Moonray have announced that they will be releasing the free-to-play title on PlayStation 5 next year. However, citing Sony's policies, the game will launch on the console without Web3 features.
On PC, the game already has an air-to-air campaign, and the upcoming mobile auto-battle game has similar plans for release next year. But this won't be an arena fighting game for the PS5 version, at least not from the start. This is due to Sony's “terms and conditions” restricting the game, they said.
Still, without direct integration of crypto features that players can use, Off-Grid on Early Access PS5 leaves a big question mark for the future. Off-Grid developer Gunzilla Games has yet to clarify its crypto integration plans for consoles, despite requests for decryption.
Off Grid Goes Viral: Avalanche Battle Royale Shooter Off Grid launched to much fanfare and excitement for two weeks. That hype led to several clips going viral last week, showing why the game is the most popular free-to-play title on the Epic Games Store.
From Fortnite legend Ninja showing off the power of the “Slam Fist” cyberlime to popular streamer Tim Tateman sneaking the last man standing on air, it was clear that the audience loved the game. Not only that, but some traditional players seem to be coming around to the idea of NFTs as well. Does this open the door for the crypto game to enter the mainstream?
