This Week On Crypto Twitter: Twitter Payments Rumors, Donald Trump Fuels Meme Coin Rise

Description by Mitchell Prefer for Decrypt.

The Bitcoin spot ETF hangover has dissipated, and the long and frothy ethereum spot ETF buzz is still flowing, leaving plenty of room for talk, debate and the occasional brawl.

We've been overdue for the Elon Musk-related pump, and the eccentric tech mogul indirectly popped a new gold marker on Monday under the username @XPayments on Twitter. It was revealed shortly after Musk once again teased that he was building an “everything app.”

Crypto Twitter has been hit with fears that the X app could support transactions in Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). Dogecoin's rise was the highest daily price since April 3, 2023, but still less than the $0.1 it hit on its 10th anniversary last year.

Ultimately, despite his legal woes, Donald Trump has continued to be Donald Trump, fueling debate in the crypto space recently with his seemingly new disdain for Central Bank Digital Currency (CBCC).

And even though the former president can't keep the NFT collections, the Djinn are all over the Trump-inspired meme tokens: $DONALD, $TRUMP, $MAGA … and many of them fight each other.
