Cointelegraph reached out to Megadeth for further comment on the collection.

Megadeth is one of the most famous heavy metal groups in the world. However, it is not the first in the genre to jump into the Web3 space. Another heavy metal sensation, Avenged Sevenfold, has also previously released NFTs in their online community called Deathbats Club.

In late November, the band released tickets as NFTs for their upcoming concert tour and received an overwhelming response from fans across the digital space.

A joint venture between the Web3 music and heavy metal arenas, Avenged Sevenfold lead singer M. Shadows, in a post congratulating Megadeth on his entry into the NFT space.

“Each project should be judged on its merits, not its technology. Blockchain simply gives you more options and ownership. I hope to see more artists jump in with their community.

This development marks another entry into the world of Web3 from a major music artist to create a better relationship with the fan base. This trend is an ongoing bear market though, and NFTs and metaverses are taking a backseat to other emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).

On December 5th, Otherblock, a blockchain-based music platform, announced that it will soon release a previously unheard demo of Michael Jackson's first studio recording in partnership with Recordpool.

Echoing the sentiments of other popular music artists who have entered the space, ElBlock's CEO told Cointelegraph that chaining the music as digital vinyl “allows you to build stories and communities around the song and elevate it beyond just being a commodity.”
