Thumzup to increase Bitcoin payments for gig economy workers
Thumzup will soon pay its gig workers via Bitcoin. The Nasdaq-listed media and marketing firm has added BTC as a treasury.
Thumzup, a media marketing company that recently adopted a Bitcoin (BTC) strategy with a $1 million purchase, has announced plans to increase crypto payments to gig economy workers.
In an announcement on November 19, Thumzup Media Corporation said it plans to soon add Bitcoin to its gig economy workforce. A publicly traded company offers this option through the Account Specialist Program (ASP). It's a move that extends to businesses that provide marketing solutions that allow their customers to pay fans via Venmo and PayPal.

This latest move adds to the growing cryptocurrency payments, especially in the gig economy.
For its feature, Thumzup uses top crypto platforms like Coinbase to integrate BTC into its payment system.
In a statement, Thumzup CEO Robert Steele said, “We're excited to power the gig economy with the option of Bitcoin payments, especially in tech-savvy areas like Los Angeles and South Florida.”
This initiative offers faster transactions, lower fees and greater financial privacy. Additionally, with the growing adoption of Bitcoin, they can easily use their earnings for everyday expenses or as a potential investment,” added Steele.
Thumzup plans to release ASP feature with crypto payments from January 2025. The new model is expected to see more traction, with Thumzup continuing to support traditional bank payments for those who prefer the available options.
