Tim Draper warns about crypto scams using his AI-generated voice
American venture capitalist Tim Draper has warned that scammers are using artificial intelligence (AI) voice generators to scam crypto users on social media.
In an Oct. 19 X (formerly Twitter) post, Draper warned his roughly 254,000 followers to remember “thieves” using AI to generate an estimate of his vote. According to Venture Capitalist, “AI is getting smarter” as Draper reported as proof that followers tried to send cryptocurrency.
Apparently AI is getting smarter, and people are using my voice to send you crypto. Please know that I never ask people X followers for money. If anyone is asking, it's not me. They are thieves.

Recent advances in AI have made it easier for the average person to hear the voice of their favorite celebrity or watch a video of a politician saying whatever they want. Following the FTX crash in November 2022, scammers created a deeply fake video showing former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried offering compensation to affected users. The same thing happened to Tesla CEO Elon Musk in May 2022.
