To launch the Uniswap DEX web wallet extension

Decentralized exchange (DEX) Uniswap is launching a web extension for its native wallet.

According to the February 27 announcement, a waiting list is currently available for users who have claimed a uni.eth username. “We will share access to the Uniswap Extension Beta in the order of username claims,” DEX said.

All existing self-sustaining wallets, such as Metamask, have a Uniswap Wallet extension that allows users to send, receive, buy and exchange various tokens and altcoins directly from web browsers.

The uni.eth domain is based on the Ethereum name service and allows users to change their 0x address to a username. As of February 25th, over 100,000 uni.eth subdomains have been claimed.

The value of the DEX token has surged over 80% in the past month, prompting recent protocol fee rewards for users. According to Uniswap Foundation executive director Erin Coyne, the amendment would “reward UNI holders who have invested in shares and made proxies.”

In the year On February 27th, Coin said in a follow-up post that the idea is to make the Uniswap DEX immutable, improve security, and maintain its ability to be tested in the future. “An additional benefit we get from Immutable is to avoid the risk of introducing bugs and the risk of future hacking of user funds,” the developer wrote:

“When you look at the major protocols that have been hacked in the past, many have occurred due to bugs that were introduced during protocol updates. While there are certainly changes in this approach, by removing setOwner we are facilitating security for stakeholders in the future.”

Discussion of the resolution is ongoing. Cointelegraph previously reported that Uniswap will launch V4 DEX in Q3 2024 after a major Ethereum upgrade.
