Tomarket, the popular Telegram game that can be played as a mini-app on the messaging platform, is moving forward with its first plan to launch Toma on the Open Network (TON) and deploy Toma on rival Layer-1 network Aptos instead.
With 50 million total users and 6 million daily active users, Tomarket will launch its TMA token on December 20, offering an airdrop to players who meet certain requirements in the game.
Tomarket issued an allocation of tokens in several weather waves, but players could not withdraw or trade the tokens. The developers of the app previously stated that the TMA token was created, but later clarified that the term was used to describe the token allocation within the app. And now, Tomarket is finally deploying to tons.
“Aptos' high-speed and reliable infrastructure gives Tomarket the scale it needs to support its growing user base while delivering smooth and efficient blockchain experiences,” Tomarket core team member Miles told Decrypt.
Following next week's token launch, Tomarket plans to expand its offerings, including introducing more games, improving its FarmingPool rewards program, and aggregating decentralized exchanges, or DEXs.
Most Telegram-based crypto games, including heavyweights like Hamster Combat and Notecoin, have opted to deploy tons this year, helping the chain embrace it. Ton is now the 16th most valuable cryptocurrency by market cap, according to data from CoinGecko, with a nearly 190% increase in value over the past year.
But Tomarket isn't the first game to take an alternative route: tap-to-find fighting game MemeFi recently launched its token on Sui after coming from the mainstream Ethereum Layer-2 network.
