Uber, the global ride-hailing and delivery platform, is considering a deal to acquire SpotHero, a parking app that lets users find and reserve parking spots in cities in advance.
The potential acquisition will allow Uber to expand into parking services, complementing its existing ride-hailing business.
The Chicago-based parking booking platform has raised nearly $118 million in multiple venture funding rounds, most recently securing $50 million in a 2019 Series D round led by Macquarie Capital.
Building on that growth, Spothero partnered with Uber in November 2023 to support Uber's peer-to-peer car sharing service in North America. The service is closed in September 2024.
