UBS Asset Management today announced the launch of the first tokenized fund on the Ethereum blockchain, the “UBS USD Money Market Investment Fund Token” (uMINT).
UBS, with $5.7 trillion in assets under management, provides investors with access to high-quality, risk-managed money market investment products through authorized distribution partners.
Thomas Keagy, co-head of UBS Asset Management APAC, commented on the change;
“We've seen growing investor appetite for financial assets listed in property classes.”
Kaegi emphasized UBS's commitment to digital finance, citing the bank's efforts with regulators and industry partners to expand their product offerings in this space.
The uMINT fund is part of UBS's larger blockchain strategy, which includes other token milestones.
In the year In November 2023, UBS completed the world's first cross-border repurchase transaction of a domestically issued digital bond on a public blockchain, following the issuance of CNH 200 million fully digitally structured notes to a third-party issuer in June 2023.
The bank last year worked with Singaporean project Guardian to pilot a tokenized variable capital company (VCC) fund, cementing UBS's role as a leader in institutional blockchain finance.
