US spot Bitcoin ETFs have surpassed Satoshi Nakamoto to become the world's largest bitcoin holders, according to data compiled by Shaun Edmondson and shared by Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas. As of December 5th, these funds have accumulated about 1,104,000 BTC, which is more than Satoshi's stock of 1.1 million bitcoins.
It puts the team at the forefront of various popular exchanges, governments and high-profile ones like MicroStrategy, which has 402,100 BTC in its portfolio. Balchunas had already predicted this development. The analyst predicted that the spot Bitcoin ETF would outperform gold ETFs by Christmas.
The rapid growth of AFAs shows strong investor interest in exposure to Bitcoin through regulated investment vehicles, although these products have only recently launched in the US market.
On Thursday, spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced net gains of $766 million, extending their winning streak to six consecutive days, according to Farside Investors.
This is a developing story.
