Web3 game Wilder World gets Epic Games Store listing during alpha testing
Web3 game Wilder World has been listed on the Epic Games Store ahead of its yet-to-be-scheduled launch.
Wilder World is being described by the publisher as “The Last Game”, also known as Wilder World. According to a press release by Cointelegraph, the game features “a free-roaming fantasy world that starts in Waimea, a city with lots to explore, race, socialize and more.”
All objects, tools, lands and avatars in the world will become “digital assets that can be sold on the Wilder World Marketplace.”
Wilder World co-founder Frank Wilder said:
“We're honored to be listed on the Epic Games Store, setting the pace for a next-genre game in the Metaverse. Our mission is to create a new experience using cutting-edge technology, providing players with a virtual space to play, socialize and earn.
The Wilder World team said the game “merges gaming genres into one immersive experience” to overcome the weaknesses of traditional AAA games like Grand Theft Auto and Cyberpunk.
According to the team's roadmap, Wilder World will combine racing, mining, and first-person-shooter genres into one comprehensive game.
Wilder World is being built on a proprietary blockchain. According to the press release, the team is “working with Polygon and Celsia to create a custom, scalable blockchain to keep fees low; and working with Metagravity to power virtual worlds with thousands of players.”
The creators behind the game say it will eventually run on a proprietary cloud gaming system. “Using NVIDIA GPUs, we're developing our own cloud gaming service that offers reliability and hardware guarantees, as well as optimization for Metaverse and Web3 games,” said a blog post on Wilder World's website.
But the article notes that this is early work, and that Wilder World will be available on Nvidia's streaming gaming service Geforce NOW at launch.
The team's roadmap indicates that limited action will be launched for players in the next 12-18 months, with the “racing” portion of the game coming in what they call “Act I” and the “combat” portion in “Act III.” He said.
