“To sum up the Web3 gaming industry over the past six months, the phrase ‘it's not perfect, but there's no way to predict it' sums it up well,” Kwon told the magazine.

Kwon said early in the year, gaming tokens looked set to be big winners.

However, the focus now seems to have shifted more to shitcoins.

“Web 3 games and gaming narratives were hot topics at the beginning of the year. But, as the market improved, the overall demand seems to have shifted more towards memes in the second quarter,” she says, noting that new game brands haven't gone to the moon in the year as expected.

“Despite the launch of various game signals, their performance was below expectations,” she added.

Kwon thinks it's time to jump on the gaming hype train and start to signal that the days of skyrocketing are over. Now, Kwon argues that games need to offer more than a flashy token name that attracts aspiring millionaires.

“It's becoming increasingly important for games to have the right tools and use cases for their treatments,” says Kwon.

“In addition, the industry has seen many new trials, which suggests that the market is maturing,” she said.

“Recent developments such as Telegram Games and the Ton Ecosystem are similar to WeChat games. Various interesting models have also emerged, including efforts to integrate AI into gaming.”

“If macroeconomic indicators improve, these innovations can drive the industry positively,” she said.

What makes a good web3 game? Kwon believes in community participation, a well-designed economic system and, importantly, interactivity.

“Being able to have assets or items used across different games adds value to digital assets and enhances the entire gaming ecosystem,” she said, allowing for a broader and more connected gaming experience.

Find love in Web 3? Love Island comes to the sandbox

Appearing on the popular Love Island may seem like a far-fetched dream to some, but Operations Officer and Co-Founder of Sandbox, Sébastien Bourget, suggests that joining the show from your living room is a more achievable option.

ITV Studios' hit show “Love Island” is all about trying to create romance, even if those relationships often don't last. It's the drama that really grabs people.

Now, Sandbox, a decentralized Metaverse platform, has teamed up with the show so people can experience it for themselves — either to try it out before making the leap, or just to enjoy the drama.

“The sandbox offers many more ways to extend fans outside of the show,” Bourget explained to the magazine.

“Gamification and virtual worlds allow reality TV fans to make their dreams come true, such as becoming a coach on The Voice or themselves as a contestant on Virtual Love Island,” he said.

This is not ITV's first reality show in association with Sandbox. He previously collaborated with The Voice on a singing competition where dreams are made (or crushed) with the help of celebrity judges before reality returns to his office job.

“Reality TV fans are already a highly interactive audience, so Web3 allows players to continue their immersive sandbox-like experience,” says Borgt.

Although not everyone is interested in love, fans of the dead will be given the opportunity to test their knowledge not only of this season, but of all the previous ones.

“Players can prove their fan status for a show or competitor through experiences that test their knowledge of contestants, storylines, seasons and more,” Borgt added.

In Musk's Empire, you can level up Elon Musk's character with various upgrades, but I didn't notice any difference even after I clicked on them all and spent money on upgrades.

I've spent thousands of coins on Elon, and it looks the same to me.

For example, the sport's update says, “Elevate your body to tackle the Pitch Marathon and Hackathon”, I clicked a few on those, but I didn't see any physical changes in the app.

Other rewards include nutrition, sleep, discipline (I don't know how much Musk takes that), and a brain upgrade that's more expensive than others, and it says “grow neural networks in you, not just in your code.” mind”

In addition to all the clicking (probably risking you arthritis) and upgrades, there's also an investment section called “City.”

Here, you can place your coins in different places to earn a recurring income. For example, if you invest 4,600 coins, you can earn up to 100 coins per hour.

Some of the investment options are outlandish—hamster farming, meme t-shirts, car rentals in Dubai—and the industries are far and wide.

Like other clicker games, I wouldn't say Mask Empire is the most fun game by a long shot, but its popularity is contagious.

I'm walking away knowing that millions of other people are doing the same thing – so maybe it's fun when community spirit comes into play?
