Worldcoin has 10M users, 70M transactions and at least 13 goats have been purchased
The WorldCoin World app has reached 10 million registered users with an average of 2 million users per day and over 5 million users per month.
In the year These milestones come less than a year after the launch of the service in June 2023, according to Tiago Sada, product head of Worldcoin's parent company, Tools for Humanity, the project has more daily users than the total number of monthly users in January. 2024
Universal basic income
WorldCoin is a cryptocurrency project that aims to create a universal basic income. Users register their identity with the company's “WorldApp” by physically scanning their eyes with the company's “Orbs” machines.
In a statement, Remko Blomen, head of blockchain at the Worldcoin Foundation, said that WorldApp is not intended to be the only solution on the Worldcoin protocol.
“Different users have different needs and preferences for their wallet app, so we hope this will encourage other contributors to develop additional wallets for the protocol. In other words, down the road, the Worldcoin community will be looking for alternatives to WorldApp, so that more people can participate with Worldcoin as they choose.”
Goats
One of the use cases for WorldApp, if late, is the viral story of a user in Kenya who expressed gratitude for being able to buy a goat with the money they received from the World Coin airdrop.
The crypto community rallied around the man, sending an undisclosed amount of crypto and reportedly bought several goats, bringing the total to “13 and counting.”
The goat pictured above is aptly named “Sam”. When asked why the owner chose the name on X.com, they responded that it was named after Sam Altman, the co-founder of Worldcoin.
Altman is the founder and CEO of the unicorn artificial intelligence (AI) startup and former non-profit company OpenAI. The company's Chat GPT product is currently considered the most cutting-edge of generative AI technology.
