Worldcoin partners with Alchemy to build blockchain infrastructure.

WorldCoin, an iris-scanning biometric digital identity project, and Web3 development platform Alchemy have announced a new partnership to build infrastructure for the WorldChain ecosystem.

On June 26th, WorldCoin announced that its partnership with Alchemy will give WorldChain developers instant access to a complete and comprehensive Web3 developer platform.

This includes both core and data APIs, indexing solutions, and other tools required by developers to develop their applications.

The tools also include a token abstraction infrastructure that improves the safety and security of self-guard wallets in the global chain ecosystem.

Alchemy integrates World ID as part of its suite of tools, enabling millions of developers around the world to access digital ID technology.

Human-centered blockchain

Alchemy's head of engineering, Noam Hurwitz, told Cointelegraph that he believes the partnership will help bring a “significant improvement” to the chain's one billion users and increase opportunities for developers to create “human-forward applications.”

WorldChain was first launched in April 2024 as a blockchain for humans. According to Tools for Humanity, one of the key contributors to the global chain ecosystem, Superchain will work with Optimism, Coinbase and the wider Ethereum ecosystem.

It's still awaiting migration from the OP mainnet and will serve as the new home for Worldcoin's World ID, which users will receive after completing an iris scan in one of the many orbs around the world, as well as the World app.

Building large-scale infrastructure

Global Chain's human-centric optimization uses verified global IDs to allocate owners priority blockspace and free gas allowances for common transactions, evacuate bots, and give developers better access to real users.

Steven Smith, head of protocol at Tools for Humanity, told Cointelegraph that WorldChain is the first blockchain designed specifically for humans and the largest to come on a human chain.

“With this comes the need for infrastructure that can operate on a much larger scale.”

He said that the choice of cooperation with Alchemy made it stand out because of its experience of “guaranteed uptime and reliability” for major enterprises.

Savannah Fortis, host of the upcoming Decentralize with Cointelegraph, sat down with Steven to understand WorldCoin and its mission for the future of decentralized digital identity on a global scale.
